    Volunteers Lead the Way

The vision and drive of extraordinary volunteers helps bring needed materials and education to school girls in India, Mali, and Uganda.

In 2017 sisters Jessica and Lisa Buchholz were inspired to raise funds and supplies for Menstrual Health Management kits for girls in Uganda. They called their project “Rounding Up Undies,” and it was a great success.  In 2019 Lisa, a pharmacist, registered for One Global Village’s first mission to India, and the sisters decided to re-launch Rounding Up Undies for India.  They put their considerable talents for fundraising, mobilizing, and evangelizing to the task – and the results brought enormous benefit to hundreds of girls around Bhopal, and will benefit girls in Mali.

Rounding Up Undies has many facets: product research (Lisa sourced the Indian manufacturer of the washable, reusable menstrual pads), creative (volunteers sewed bags to hold the MHM kits), organizing (collecting thousands of pairs of donated undies and washcloths, and hundreds of beautiful volunteer-sewn bags), event planning (online and in-person events like the immensely successful “Pints for Panties”), PR (including a feature on KSNT News), and most of all FUNraising, as the sisters have inspired and engaged countless people to contribute to the cause.

The supplies purchased and gathered by Rounding Up Undies volunteers, a key component of the One Global Village Menstrual Health Management training program, will help hundreds of girls stay in school. The students reached and supported by this program are immensely grateful for the education and support they’ve received, all due to the dedication and commitment of passionate volunteers and tireless champions like Lisa and Jessica, and to the countless sponsors and supporters who made this program possible.
