Happy Year End from One Global Village

As we look forward to the end of 2021 and start of the new year, there is good news to celebrate in the communities served by One Global Village. We remain in regular communication with our partners in Bhopal and our team in Mali, and want to share what they have accomplished this year with your help.

New Ambulance for Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital

Covid-19 cases in India have been dramatically reduced from the “horrific” levels suffered earlier in 2021. Thanks to generous OGV supporters who responded to an urgent plea, we were able to provide some relief during the April peak by sending $30,000 raised to our partners at Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital in Bhopal. These funds enabled purchase of drastically needed PPE, oxygen, medicine, supplies, and a much-needed ambulance to serve the extremely poor rural and urban communities around Bhopal.

Siraba School

Mali has experienced relatively few Covid cases, and while the government and most schools have often been shut down due to Covid scares, the communities we serve in Mali have been thankfully free from the disease. OGV’s Mali team continues to run Siraba School and the daily lunch program year-round in Dagabo and to monitor and provide tutoring and education support to graduates in Piébougou, Ouéléssébougou, and Bamako. Our team provided sanitation education and supplies, reinforcing the need for vigilance against Covid-19 and improving community health.

Sadly, OGV has had to cancel or postpone our Q1 2022 medical and educational missions to India and Mali. Not an easy decision to make but necessary: both in consideration of the health and safety of our US team and volunteers, and significantly also to not strain the limited resources of our team and partners overseas. We are committed to these partners and communities, and with your support we will continue to do all we can from afar, until we’re able to be on the ground with them again.
