Founded in 2010, Siraba School educates 200 students each year in kindergarten and grades 1-6, now in 3 beautiful buildings. Located in Dagabo, a rural village in southwestern Mali that is home to over 400 families, Siraba School also facilitates literacy classes for adults and provides a gathering place for women from Dagabo and surrounding villages. Siraba School was built with proceeds from the sale of the book Boi’s Story (read more about Boi), support from generous donors, and brick-making skills and labor from Dagabo villagers.

Siraba School is managed by a dedicated local Malian team led by Mme. Korotimi Haidara in collaboration with the local Dagabo School Committee, who help determine and respond to student and teacher needs. One Global Village funds enhance the educational and life opportunities for children and their families: enable the Dagabo School Committee to pay teacher salaries; provide nutritious daily lunches; purchase books, supplies, and educational materials; bring in educational, healthcare, and economic development consultants; and provide the Health and Healthy Behaviors program; all under the watchful eye of Mali Director Korotimi Haidara, an educator, translator, mentor, and all-around amazing human.
